When you read Matthew 5:7 at first glance, many people take this to mean that “Be kind and nice to others, and they will be kind and nice to you.” But this is not always true. It does not match the reality of life. So what exactly does Jesus mean? What is He saying to us? Think about these questions as we continue our study of the Sermon on the Mount.

Today we are going to discover that the truly contented person, the truly satisfied person, and the blessed person has a hunger and thirst for righteousness. “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.” – Matthew 5:6 (NIV)
In one aspect of kingdom living, Jesus, in His sermon on the mount in Matthew chapter 5 verse 5 says this, “Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth”. What does Jesus mean when He says “meek”? What is meekness? Because it sounds like “weakness”. What does it mean, from a biblical perspective? Keep all of this in mind as we continue the next part of this teaching series, “Kingdom Living”.
